Sowing Future Grain Share

I would like to share an e-mail I got from Richard:

A group of Irish farmers want to create a strong, direct relationship with Irish customers.

“Sowing Future Grain Share” does this and promotes an active partnership that secures proven seed for future harvest, improves food security and supports a sustainable way of farming.

For €95 paid/invested at the onset of the cereal growing season you will receive 100kg of grain from the 2011 cereal harvest.

This initiative supports the Irish farmer to grow directly for you.

Biodynamically produced cereals are grown under the most harmonious conditions without using any herbicides, insecticides, pesticides, fungicides. All the consumer receives is clean, vibrantly alive seed. This can be milled into flour, or sprouted or cooked. The nutritional profile of freshly milled flour is much different from flour that has been sitting around on the shelf, and so is much better for you.

Traceability: This seasons cereal is grown by

For booking your share, or more information please contact

Nelleke McGrath (Grain share coordinator for the Biodynamic Association of Ireland)

Due to a good harvest in 2010 there is still grain available and shares can be retrospectively bought.
The grain is stored in a central location and collection or delivery can be discussed with Nelleke.

This weekend I attended a workshop were we made bread with this grain and it turned out great. I also made, for the first time, pasta.
I just love any type of pasta, but was never too keen on whole wheat pasta.
After tasting the one we made during this workshop I think I will change fully to home-made whole wheat pasta, it was just d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s !

We haven’t got a mill yet, but I want to buy one. Several participants at the workshops expressed interest so I’ll enquire about discount for a collective order.

Should you be interested to join us please contact me at auler1@eircom.net and I’ll fill you on on the details.

Hoping to hear from you,

Richard
